Saudi Premium Residency (also known as the Saudi Green Card) is a government-issued permit that allows foreigners to live, work, own property, and run a business in Saudi Arabia without needing a local sponsor. It's part of Vision 2030 and is designed to attract investors, skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and talented individuals from around the world.
A regular Iqama ties you to an employer or sponsor. Premium Residency gives you full independence, and you can change jobs freely, enter and exit the Kingdom without restrictions, own property in your own name, start a business, and bring your family with you. It's closer to permanent residency in any other major country.
There are seven official tracks, each targeting a different profile. Find the one that matches your situation.
For professionals in healthcare, science, research, or senior executives. Salary minimums apply: SAR 35,000/month for health and science professionals, SAR 14,000/month for researchers.
For exceptional individuals in sports, arts, and culture. Requires endorsement from the Ministry of Culture or Ministry of Sports.
For foreign investors. Minimum investment of SAR 7 million in the Saudi economy.
For startup founders and innovators. Comes with Nitaqat exemption for 3 years and the ability to nominate 2 staff for Special Talent Residency. There are two categories:
Category 1 - For early-stage founders. Requires an Entrepreneur License from MISA, a minimum capital raised of SAR 400,000 from an entity accredited by the Premium Residency Center, and at least 20% ownership in the company. This gives a 5-year renewable residency.
Category 2 - For more established entrepreneurs. Requires an Entrepreneur License from MISA and a minimum raised capital of SAR 15 million. Meeting the job creation targets (10 jobs in year one, 10 more in year two) leads directly to permanent residency.
For those who own Saudi property or portfolio worth at least SAR 4 million. Property must be residential and free of mortgages.
Open to everyone with no specific eligibility criteria. Costs SAR 100,000 per year, renewed every year.
Open to everyone with no specific eligibility criteria. One-time fee of SAR 800,000 for lifetime residency.
Regardless of the pathway, all applicants need a valid passport, clean criminal record, proof of financial stability, a medical report (issued within the last 6 months), and comprehensive health insurance.
Everything is done online through the official portal at pr.gov.sa. You create an account, fill in your details, upload documents, pay the fee, and submit. The application can be submitted from anywhere in the world. That said, it is advised to work with a consultant to ensure the process goes through without any hiccups or delays.
Does Premium Residency lead to Saudi citizenship?
No. Holding Premium Residency does not automatically lead to citizenship. Naturalisation in Saudi Arabia remains a separate and discretionary process.
Can I include my family?
Yes. Your spouse, children under 25, and parents can be included as dependents under your Premium Residency.
What's the difference between the Limited and Unlimited options?
Both are open to anyone with no specific eligibility criteria. The Limited option costs SAR 100,000 per year and can be renewed indefinitely. The Unlimited option is a one-time payment of SAR 800,000 for permanent residency. No renewals ever needed.
Which pathway is right for me?
That depends entirely on your profile. Whether you're an investor, a professional, an entrepreneur, or simply looking to relocate. Book a call and we'll walk you through which track fits your situation best.
